The Arab Educational Institute
The Palestinian organisation AEI operates in the Bethlehem, Ramallah and Hebron areas, providing community education in a broad variety of subjects, including computer programs, business administration and languages, with a particular focus on Palestinian youth. They also demonstrate non-violent alternatives in the Palestinian struggle and develop networks across social and religious borders to fight the growing sense of suffocation and closure. Media attention focusing more and more on the AEI affords the opportunity to present these possibilities to the rest of the world. They have kindly contributed the following articles translated to English, you can read more at their website http://www.aeicenter.org The Terminal Independance Gift. THE WRITING ON THE WALL
A series of interviews with Palestinians who live close to the Wall. Three questions are asked: How is your daily life influenced by the Wall and the checkpoints? What does freedom mean to you? What are your sources of energy? The interviews are made by Toine van Teeffelen for the www.verbindingverbroken.nl [connection lost] website of United Civilians for Peace, an umbrella of Dutch development organizations and peace movements. All have been translated to English.
